Associated Artists

A route to developing great performances

Our Associated Artists programme exists for one very important purpose

Finding and creating lovely performance opportunities for all musicians at the University who want them.

Some are high-profile events.

Some are smaller opportunities to practise performing, & build confidence or experience.

All are wonderful chances to share your music and perform for an audience.

How does it differ from the OMAs?

It’s all about commitment…!

Associated Artists has no commitment (except from us that is!)

If we think we can find you chances to perform, we’ll accept you into the program, and do our best to get you on stage.

There’s no real commitment your end. With OMAs you’re expected to take a full part in the life of the music department. With AAs we just offer you performance opportunities and you can accept them if you want.

The only request is that you hold the big yearly ‘Great Hall’ concert date in case needed.

This year that’s Friday 23rd April 2027

Interested?

Come and audition!

Tuesday 20th October

Fill in this form to let us know about you

Notes:

Open to present students and staff

All instruments welcome (as are small ensembles / groups / bands)

5 mins (max) of any piece (a segment of a piece is fine)

Please note, you’ll be playing without accompaniment

You can bring a backing track if you wish (contact us if so)

Performers from the Associated Artists programme have made a real impact across many stages and events of Reading University life. Go to a good event with live music at the University and there’s a good chance an Associated Artist won’t be far away…  It’s also a fantastic way to get to know the Music team, gain valuable performance experience, and discover opportunities, including paid gigs) that might be perfect for you
