Practice Facilities
A great place to train!
Music students at Reading have access to a range of practice and rehearsal spaces on our London Road Campus.
There are six general practice rooms, two larger studios, a dedicated drum room and a silent practice room. The larger studios are available for band rehearsals, and we also have access to the University’s Great Hall for some rehearsals and events.
Whether you’re preparing for a performance, working on an assessment, rehearsing with friends or just want somewhere to play, you’ll find a room to suit you.
Practice Rooms
We have six general practice rooms which are suitable for individual practice or for small groups (of up to three people). Each room has an upright piano, music stand and mirror.
Practice rooms are available seven days a week, from 08:00 to 21:30. Amplified sound is permitted after 17:00 on weekdays and throughout the weekend.
Silent practice room (G04)
G04 has an electronic drum kit and silent rehearsal set-up for amplified instruments. It can be used for amplified practice before 17:00 on weekdays, when amplified sound isn’t permitted in the other practice rooms.
Drum kit room (G06)
G06 has an acoustic drum kit and provides a dedicated space for drum practice
Large Studio (G01)
Our largest studio has a drum kit and two grand pianos, making it suitable for larger rehearsals and UoR LIVE band rehearsals.
Medium Studio (G03)
G03 has a drum kit and one grand piano and can also be used for band and ensemble rehearsals.
